Colors usually look dull after export because the artwork, file format, browser, and display are not using the same color assumptions. For web graphics, the reliable baseline is usually sRGB.
Color Profiles Can Change Your Hex Values
A hex value feels absolute, but it is only reliable when the color space is consistent. Web assets should generally be built and exported in sRGB, because browsers and CSS workflows commonly assume that standard.

Export Format and Rasterization Affect Perceived Color

Use this workflow: create in RGB, preview in sRGB, export a web copy, test it in a browser, then sample key colors from the final file. If the values changed, inspect profile conversion and compression. If the values match but the image feels flat, adjust contrast, value structure, and saturation placement.
For color-critical illustration, your display is part of the pipeline. A calibrated, sRGB-capable monitor gives you the reliable baseline; wide-gamut and HDR modes are creative advantages only when you know when to turn them off.
